Our expertly designed sessions, led by seasoned industry professionals, are crafted to equip you with the essential skills and strategies for successful negotiation. Tailor-made for the ambitious professional, our program goes beyond basic preparation; it’s a deep dive into building the confidence and skills you need to not just participate in, but lead, those all-important pay conversations.

Achieve a 25% Increase in Your Compensation

Women who have worked with The Thoughtful Co on average received a 25% increase in their compensation. This notable achievement underscores the effectiveness of our program in equipping women with the skills and confidence needed for successful negotiations.

Our 2024 group coaching consists of three interactive sessions. Each session offers a blend of training from our compensation experts, and an opportunity to practice the skills you’ve learned and receive real-time feedback.

We are compensation experts. All services are led by the former leader of Executive Compensation at Lululemon. Using our team's deep expertise in compensation, and referencing executive peer analysis, we empower women to feel confident in asking for the compensation they deserve.

Note: "women" includes anyone who identifies as a woman.

Time Commitment: Our first 2024 group coaching cohort consists of three 75-minute interactive sessions.

Facilitators: Each session is hosted by Jillian Climie and Sophie Warwick (see bios below).

Platform: All sessions will be hosted virtually over Zoom.

Scheduling the Session: Once each cohort is registered, we will schedule timing of each of the three sessions based on attendee availability.

Group Size: Space will be limited in each cohort to maximize engagement and participation.

Confidentiality: All participants will sign a confidentiality agreement to confirm that anything shared in the session will be kept completely confidential.

Session 1: Setting the Foundation

  • Kick-off: short presentation on the fundamentals of compensation negotiation, how employers make pay decisions, and the different elements in a compensation package that can be negotiated.

  • Exercise: we‘ll share our best practice compensation checklist to work through with participants, including the important elements of a contract to focus on, and highlight where you can ask for more.

  • Open format discussion: we encourage open sharing of personal negotiation experiences to create a transparent and collaborative environment. By normalizing the negotiation process, our goal is to foster a space where successes, challenges, and lessons learned can be collectively explored.

  • Q&A: we’ll finish the session with Q&A on different structures in your compensation package.

Session 2: Articulating Your Unique Skillset

  • Kick-off: short presentation on how to identify and articulate your unique strengths, and why this is so important to compensation negotiation.

  • Exercise: participants will delve deep and explore their unique strengths. Each participant will construct a comprehensive strength portfolio, identifying and leveraging their distinctive skills.

  • Sharing: an opportunity for participants to present their strengths and receive feedback from the group. This session establishes a supportive environment for honing and refining skills, setting the stage for self-discovery and mutual empowerment.

  • Q&A: we’ll finish the session with Q&A on confidently articulating your unique skillset.

Session 3: Negotiate with Confidence

  • Kick-off: short presentation on using our negotiation script structure to confidently ask for the compensation you deserve, as well as biases women face in negotiations and how to work around them.

  • Exercise: participants will craft their negotiation scripts with support from the facilitators, including scenario testing different responses.

  • Sharing: an opportunity for participants to present their script to the group and hear feedback to refine it. You will leave this session with a ready-to-use script to negotiate your compensation with confidence.

  • Q&A: we’ll finish the session with a final Q&A for anything that came up during the last three sessions.

How We’ll Spend the Time

Price: $360.00 + tax for all three sessions.

Can only attend one session? Individual sessions can be attended for $155 + tax, but full programs will be prioritized.

President, Retail Industry

Chief Design Officer, Tech Industry

I am incredibly grateful to the thorough, professional, and, yes, thoughtful approach that The Thoughtful Co has provided me in not only salary negotiations but also in helping see different perspectives on major career decisions. They helped me not just with tips on negotiation but such a detailed view of the market that I was able to go in to all conversations with deep confidence. The Thoughtful Co is providing services that I wish I had access to early in my career - it would have changed the way I advocated for myself and how I coached other women to advocate for themselves. I know I'll work with them again in the future and could not more highly recommend The Thoughtful Co.

Design Director

The Thoughtful Co's review process was very organized, whereby they summarized the key points of the contract, highlighted the parts that had implications I needed to be aware of or think about, and suggested questions to go back to the employer with. They also provided me with a current contract vs. future contract template. Throughout the process, they ensured I had the information I needed to make decisions. By providing me with perspective, they also made me feel empowered in regards to my work experience, my compensation expectations and negotiating certain aspects of the contract. They ensured that by the time I was ready to sign the offer, I was able do so with confidence. It is clear that they recognize how stressful it can be to consider all the aspects of moving jobs and are thus very patient and supportive.

One thing I've learned is to not fake expertise when you can just talk to an expert. I was excited about my job offer but hadn't negotiated a new job in years. The Thoughtful Co helped me understand the questions to ask, where to push, how to think about private company stock options. They listened to my needs and applied their expertise to help me make sure I was getting what was fair. As important, The Thoughtful Co made me feel more confident with this big life decision. I highly recommend The Thoughtful Co.

Director, Communications Industry

What I didn’t anticipate was how much emotional support came from working with The Thoughtful Co through this. They pointed out lots of opportunities to ask questions to my prospective employer, or simply, where to ask for more. Knowing the stresses I was faced with outside of negotiating, it felt really comforting to have someone to openly discuss the details with and know that each email I sent back had my approval and also theirs - the team element of it felt both grounding and empowering. I would definitely work with The Thoughtful Co again!

Vice President, Technology Industry

I really valued The Thoughtful Co's input on my compensation package, especially when it came to stock options, RSUs (restricted share units), and vesting periods. They were thorough, detailed, and provided me with very good strategic advice.

Chief Executive Officer, Non-Profit

In just over an hour, I saw how I could be much more effective in my negotiations with our compensation committee, and I learned that my compensation dialogue is far too narrow. It also became clear that I can do a much better job in supporting my direct reports, in a way that benefits the individuals and the organization.

Chief Operating Officer, Retail Industry

I worked with The Thoughtful Co for promotion negotiation support while transitioning from a VP level role to the C-suite. They helped me break down the details of the role’s scope, review peer comparables to determine the value of the new offer and provided a simple negotiation framework to follow. They were with me every step of the way, responding to approaches to take as the negotiation progressed. I felt empowered throughout the process with their coaching, the outcome was a win-win arrangement. I am grateful for their guidance and highly recommend the Thoughtful Co.

Director, Technology Industry

The Thoughtful Co reviewed an offer I had and provided me with a much needed sanity check, particularly on private company stock options. They were insightful, knowledgeable, raised the right questions and understands the nuances in programs across various industries. I highly recommend The Thoughtful Co!

Chief Operating Officer

Vice President, Healthtech

The Thoughtful Co was extremely helpful as I thought through my salary/bonus/equity and how to revisit the conversation with my company. I found the 1x1 help on equity especially valuable. Startup equity can have tremendous wealth potential, but it's easy to feel intimidated by it and just accept what's presented to you. The Thoughtful Co team is super approachable and made it much easier to understand my current equity and where I could ask for more. I wish I worked with The Thoughtful Co. years ago, but I'm so glad I did now! I highly recommend working with them.

I reached out to the Thoughtful Co at the 11th hour of contract and equity negotiations for support, advice and guidance. I was so impressed with their responsiveness, candor, and advisory on the right way to tackle equity ownership in a senior role in a growing startup environment. Thinking through how to evaluate future share and grant prices and dilution was critically important, alongside giving market research on salary comparables to feel confident I was in the right place. I was so lucky I was connected with the Thoughtful Co team, at my time in need, and I could not recommend them more. This service is crucial if you are thinking about making a shift.

Chief Executive Officer, Non-Profit

I highly recommend The Thoughtful Co. To start, their fixed pricing model is very transparent and allows you to choose from a menu of options to determine what package best suits your circumstances. Their approach is fantastic and their deep expertise in compensation across a variety of industries can't be matched. The Thoughtful Co equips you with the data, but perhaps more importantly, how to use it. They go through all aspects of compensation and contract terms, doing a thorough review of your offer and giving deep context on how to think about each item. Their methodology is organized, systematic and, most importantly, clear and easy to understand. Ultimately, this provides you the context to negotiate confidently. Plus, they are a delight to work with! I'd recommend them to anyone, regardless of career level or industry.
